What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Some are set by us (first-party). Others are set by Google, Meta, Microsoft or Stripe when their tools run.
Your choice
Essential cookies do not need consent. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you press Accept on the cookie banner. You can change that later with Cookie settings in the footer, or by clearing cookies for paperpip.co in your browser.
If you choose Essential only, the site still works. We will not load Google Analytics, Google Ads (gtag), the Meta Pixel, or Bing UET on that browser.
Essential cookies
| Cookie | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
sm_session | Keeps you signed in after you click the magic link. HttpOnly; not readable by scripts on the page. | Up to 90 days, or until you sign out |
sb_anon | Remembers how many of the three free pages this browser has used, so the limit is fair. | Up to 12 months |
sb_cookie_consent | Remembers whether you accepted analytics and advertising cookies, or essential only. | Up to 12 months |
If you buy Plus, Classroom or a one-off sheet, Stripe Checkout or the Stripe billing portal may set its own cookies to take payment and prevent fraud. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
Analytics cookies
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 (via gtag) to see which pages are used and how people find Paper Pip. Google may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_*, usually for up to two years.
We also use Google Search Console to understand search listings. That tool does not set an advertising cookie on your visit.
Advertising cookies
If you accept, we may use:
- Google Ads (gtag) — to measure ads and, where Google allows, to show more relevant ads. Typical cookies include
_gcl_auand others Google sets after an ad click. - Meta Pixel — to measure Facebook and Instagram ads. Typical cookies include
_fbpand_fbc. - Microsoft Advertising (Bing) — if we run Bing ads, the UET tag. Typical cookies include
_uetsidand_uetvid.
Those companies may combine this with other information they hold about you. Their notices: Google, Meta, Microsoft.
How to control cookies
Use Cookie settings in the footer, or delete cookies in your browser. If you delete sm_session you will be signed out. If you delete sb_anon this browser will forget how many free pages it has used.
Blocking all cookies will stop sign-in and the free-page counter from working properly. You can also use industry opt-outs such as Your Online Choices.
